  1. To get out of a kayak, try these ...

    (1) Exit the water at a sandy beach.  Drive the kayak on the shore -- it will be 1/4 on the sand, 3/4 in the water .. now stay in the kayak and lean back while someone pulls your kayak 100% onto the sand ... you climb out.

    (2) Exit at a dock or some rocks. Place your paddle flat on the dock, then use one hand to hold the paddle to the rim of the cockpit (coaming) to steady and brace the kayak to the dock or shore. Move from the cockpit and sit on top of the kayak with your feet on the seat, move to the dock.

    (3) For a wet exit of a swamped kayak. Pull the skirt release cord in front of you, roll 90 degrees with your upper body laying in the water ... the kayak is bouyant and will not sink ... you just slide out by pushing on the coaming ... the kayak will self-right ... stay with the kayak. You can start to bail water now.

And remember, the Inuit did this in Arctic waters.

  2. if you can balance your body weight pull your legs up to your butt and stand straight up but as soon as you get up off of the seat immediately jump slightly pushing off with your feet to whichever side you want to exit the kyak but not with too much of an angle, otherwise you will swap it,  its not that hard just go for it and have confidence in yourself.
