Sweeney todd??

I am going to audition for Mrs.lovett in sweeney todd and i need some idea for how i should play her character so,does anybody have any tips for playing her character??

No, no, no! Don't watch the movie! The stage show is completely different, so don't tell her to watch the movie! The movie isn't even funny, where the play is a dark comedy. The stage show is hilarious. So do not go in there pretending to be Helena Bonham Carter. And don't go in as Mrs. Lovett. Be yourself.

Hello there!

First off, find the sense of humor in her lines and songs - but don't be too over the top. She's a very kind and caring character, and also maternal (which is why she cares about Toby so much). She's not of higher class, which is why her accent isn't as elegent as The Judge's, hers is more like Eliza's at the beginning of "My Fair Lady."

Overall, she's got a great sense of humor but she also loves deeply with her heart. Find the balance between the two and you're good.

to get a nice look watch at least 30 min. of the movie you need to be alto or mezzo soprano act kind and evil  at specific times.
