Sweet Sixteen Question?

First off, my family is big compared to my friends. I have parties with both my family and friends over because it saves on having to buy double of everything for two parties. This year I'm turning sixteen and want to do something different. I'm having a party at my house but just want to have my friends over. I'm getting a DJ and catering. I just want to have fun without having to worry about what my family will say and do. I'm sorry this is very long. Should I have my family over as well or leave them out?

  1. It's your party, do whatever you want. Your family will understand if you don't want them to come.

  2. your 16th is important, so you need to make sure you have time with your friends AND your family. What I did for my16th was to have the "family party" first, and invite everyone... family and friends, then after a couple of hours, we moved the party to my friend's house where it was just us.

  3. Your sweet sixteen is one birthday that you will never forget. I think that you should do whatever will make you happy. If you are afraid of what your family will think then don't invite those particular family members ot leave family out. I say, who cares what they say and think. Its your party and you can do whatever you want. Don't worry about it.

  4. Yes... its your party and you do what's best for you to have a good time. People will talk anyways, invited or not !!

  5. If you're very close to your family and the parties usually go well with the mixture of friends and fam, you should have both! That way your family doesn't feel left out and you're surrounded by everyone you love. On the other hand, if you only have one big party JUST so you don't have to buy double the supplies and you want to have a party with just friends and no parents or annoying siblings around, tell them that it's a big deal to you (turning 16) and you'd like to have 2 separate parties to celebrate the best of both worlds!

  6. I think your family will understand.  You probably want to enjoy your sweet sixteen with your friends.  You probably want to make this experience memorable.  I believe your family will understand your feelings. My sister had her sweet sixteen with her friends and my family understood that she wanted to hang out with her friends.

  7. if you're paying for the party you can do whatever you want
