My wisdom teeth have grown in, and been so for about 3 years now. Up until about 3 days ago I have had crazy throbbing pain and swelling behind my left bottom wisdom tooth. I thought it was just a canker at first, but now I am beginning to think it is something else. Also I cant bite down because the gum and swollen over the tooth.. What could it be?

  1. If it is flap of tissue over the back of the tooth that is getting banged on but the upper teeth it will probably break off eventually - it is called an operculum. However if you are getting debris trapped there it is probably irritating it. Rinse well with salt water for a few days, brush gently but thouroughly in the area and if it doesn't go away talk to your dentist.
