Question:

Swelling in feet after childbirth?

I am currently 38 weeks and have severe swelling in my feet and legs. I do not, however, have preeclampsia. I have regular blood pressure and am otherwise healthy.

I'm just wondering how long after I give birth to my daughter will it be until the swelling goes down?

(I saw other questions like this, but they all seemed to be from women with preeclampsia. I figured it might be different in my case, since the swelling is just regular pregnancy swelling.)

  1. It was only a few days before the swelling went down in my feet and fingers.  It wasn't very long at all - and I was so excited about my new baby that I barely noticed it!

  2. the swelling is completely normal. Its from water retention. its important that you keep drinking plenty of water and put your feet up whenever possible. it will probably take about a week for it to go back down after your baby is born. good luck and congrats!

  3. ok well my feet were sooo swollen, my ankles and calves were too. (not high blood pressure) it took about 2-3 weeks before it was completely gone. 1-2 days? yeah right!

  4. give it a few days, until then its a good excuse to go bare foot

  5. it should go down in a day or 2 it is just all the water u'll b ok uncomfy tho i know
