I have a swim meet tomorrow. It is in a 50 meter pool, and im used to being in a scy or a 25 yard pool. I am pretty nervous. I am doing the 100 fly, 100 back, 200 free, and 400 free. I was 5 seconds away from a divisional cut in 200 free in scy. I really want 2 make a cut, and my coach said 2 my mom that i would, and she doesnt say that 2 just anyone. Anyways, i want 2 make sure i have everything i need 4 the meet. Can u guys tell me what to bring, and some tips before and during? Thanks

10 points for best!

  1. for the 400 and maybe even the 200 pace yourself

bring lots of water and a bottle of gatorade, a banana, a powerbar, trail mix, dried fruit, etc

DREAMING IS FOR LOSERS, DOING IS FOR WINNERS!

    YOU CAN DO IT!

  2. I was in your situation with the pools, too, but there is really nothing you can do. When you are swimming a 50-metre, it is really counting on your endurance and speed, so keep your energy up, constantly sip sports drinks and eat if you aren't hungry. Focus on streamlining your best, and for your 200-free, pace. The last 50, go all out, and focus on kicking as powerfully as you can. Good Luck!

  3. Just do what you normally do at a short-course meet. During your race there will just be fewer turns, so make your streamlines off the wall extra great.

Bring what you always do. Bathing suit, several towels, lots of good food, a sleeping bag maybe.

Good luck on your races. I know you'll make the cut:).

  4. hi,don,t give up .i,m a swimmer and some day i was like you .but, by practicing you will be butter .some days i was swimming 200m freestyle and i was scared like you . but a i want to give you some advice that maybe help you .

1.study your swimming pool and know 50m pool not like 25m pool , you,ve to do a good start and good turn .

2.try to improve your turn before race ,(it,s important in 50m pool)

    3. before race i was studding Ian Thorpe technique in 200m freestyle

4.train to hold your breath .

first 50m ; good start and 5 kick under water and breath every stroke (use good and fast technique)

    second 50m ;breath every 3 stroke .

third 50 hold your breath 6 stroke in the beginning 6 stroke in the end .

last 50 do your best and choose a fast technique and try to hold your breath as you can .

i hope my information is useful 4 u

    and good luck

  5. Do all your normal pre-meet stuff.  What is different about long course is that it is more about your actual swimming than the starts, turns, and streamlines.  You still want to have good "walls" but because there are less of them you want to focus more on the actual swimming.  Short course is more about starts and turns, good long course swimmers are the really good swimmers.  So make sure you know your goal paces.  Spend some time figuring them out based on your goal times and bring that paper to the meet.  Good luck.  I hope you make it!

  6. i swim at a 25 yrd pool and the regionals was at a 50 meter. so i know what your talking about. i just prepared the same way. got lots of rest and liquids and i just swam my fastest!
