  1. WORK YOUR WALLS!

I know you have probably heard your coach tell you a million times to kick hard off of your walls and make your kicks off of them count- they weren't lying.  I used to never work my walls in a 500 (or in any distance event) and when I kinda of plateaued in those events, i started to really work my walls at practice, and my time in my 500 dropped 7-9 seconds in one meet.  When you work your walls, you keep your momentum from the push going and you don't slow yourself down by loafing off of them.  Try it!- You'll be surprised at the results! You dojn't even have to do them like BAMBAMBAM! just keep them nice and strong- not necessarily as fast as you would make them in a sprint event.

Good luck- hope i helped =]

  2. keep ur head still.

here is some advice the best swimmer i know gave me-

when u are going as hard as you can, keep going harder, then harder, until u hit the wall . ur times willl drop!!!

    breathe every 5th stroke throughout!!!

good luck!! talk to your coach before!!

  3. kick hard    the most important parts and the start turn and finsih. get off of that block like theres no tmrw. lol and then the turn  really tight and fast get off the wall quick and kick so hard when u get off the wall because thats where you loose time and the finish  dont breathe once ur in the flags  just like give it all at the end.

    good luck
