Question:

Swimming, broad shoulders?

I'm a swimmer. 13 yrs. old. I swim 4 hours every day, 6 days a week. I'm training to become a pro. I've been swimming most of my life. But I've seen pro. female swimmers, they all have really broad shoulders which I don't find attractive. I've noticed that my shoulders already are starting to get broad, how do I stop that? I really don't want broad shoulders! Please help!!! And btw. do all strokes give you broad shoulders? Freestyle is my best stroke, does it also make your shoulders broad. I can't quit, I just don't want broad shoulders. Thanks.

  1. you don't want broad muscles

but i am a boy and i am born with verry slim shoulders, and by that i mean that if you look at the angle from my hips to the outside of my shoulders there's practicly none,  but my question is, can ANY, any exercice or anything whatsoever make my shoulders go further to the side. thinking about this for a long time i figuered that to obtain this, my collar bones and the bones in my back would als have to become longer which is impossible if i'm not mistaking.

this confused me because when i look at swimmers (pro's and even an amateur in my in my class at school) they obviously have realy broad shoulders. but in some way you've got to be born with that distance between your shoulder and your neck right? nomatter how big muscles you get at your shoulder and back, it can't possibly drive your shoulders further appart can it?

ok ive just read the reply from guest4815 and it think that pretty much covers it ^^

but this also means i will never get a masculine body like that no matter how hard i train...plus i think it would look verry weird.. but hey, thanks for proving

@ the person who asked this question. you should try to think of the possitive side, that your body matches your sport! i'd propably never become a good swimmer if i wanted to :)
