Question:

Swimming pools? PLEASE HELP!?

I want a swimming pool, but I can't afford one of the good ones. I am thinking about getting one of the pools from Wal-mart.

Are they any good? How long do they last? And should I get one that stands up as it’s filled w/ water (I call them soup bowls LOL) or should I get the ones that are held up by poles?

I'll be very thankful for any info.

  1. It all depends on how many people you plan on having in it an dhow big you are and what you plan ondoing in the pool. If you are going to have kids in the pool then get the one with poles. It is sturdier. If you are using it to just cool down and relax get the one that fills up as it has water in it. the ones that u fill and gets bigger they last about 2-4 years.

  2. I have one of the pop up pools and they are kind of a Pain in the butt!  First of all you have to make sure that the ground is extremely level or they will sit lop sided.  I thought that my ground was level but it is still sitting lop sided.  From what i hear they usually only last one season.  The other expenses that you have to put into it like chlorine, algaecide, clarifier, shock.  They end up being just as hard to maintain as a regular pool.

  3. We have had both. We just got the metal poles kind this year. I love it. The one with the ring kinda sucks because after a year of use, it will get stretched out and not sit up right.

Not sure about how long it would last, just got ti this year. It seems alot bigger than the one we had last year and its actually smaller.

  4. Yeah, they are a lot of work and hard to clean out. I call them cracker pools lol

  5. save up for what Troy?  a 20k dollar inground?  If you have smaller children, (non teens), then they are well worth the money-- costs about $100 for air ring pool (12' x 30") on average, about $30-40 for chemicals, another $20-30 for filters and skimmer--     so for under $200 your kids can  swim almost everyday this summer--    if you take care of it, you can get 2-3 years out of the pool-  only problem is the pumps are small and get overworked, but you can order new motors on line or buy calling the mfg.       We have used on last 5 years--  bought larger one this year--  make sure you use mineral magnet when filling the pool if you have very hard water-- it will turn greenish/brown right away from the chlorine-- easy fix with the chemicals

  6. Don't do it.  Above ground pools suck.  Wait and save or join a country club.

    Cracker pools?  Ha!  Well put.

  7. just go to the public pools much better

  8. Why not join a health-club with a pool in it.  That way you can go swimming all year round.
