  1. I have, many times, but never with captive dolphins, only wild ones.  If you are going swimming with wild dolphins, here are some tips.  Don't ever just jump in with them or they'll disappear in a heartbeat.  Enter the water slowly and quietly and just pretty much stay where you are and wait for them to come to you.  Don't ever approach them because to do so would be rude, and reaching for them is even more rude.

If you are going to swim with them, wear a snorkel, scuba gear, or better yet, a re-breather because they make no noise.  This equipment is necessary because the only way I've ever found to swim close to dolphins is to keep my hands at my sides at all times.  Once you have made the decision to keep your hands at your sides, don't be surprised if you have dolphins swimming just inches away from you.

  2. It's supposed to be fun, but totally unethical.

Aside from teh cruelty of keeping these intelligent animals in captivity, they are trapped when there are hurricanes and frequently killed as a result.
