Switching cages for rabbit's pregnancy

Question

ok i am thinking about breeding my friends rabbit and my rabbit. mine is the doe and she lives in a wired cage. when she gets closer to her pregnancy should i get a new solid bottom cage for her and her babies so they wont fall out if the mom is trying to push them out or they try to escape (first litter she will have)? i have had rabbits in the past so i know all about them being pregnant so i dont want any negativity.

There is no need for a solid bottom cage if you use a nestbox. Here are some links to different kinds of nestboxes:

For added security, you can purchase urine guards that will line the sides of your cage, keeping babies inside. They aren't small enough to "fall" through the floor.

This being said, since you didn't know this, I would suggest not breeding the rabbits. Although you may have experience with it, it does not sound like you have properly researched what you're doing. I suggest that BEFORE you breed (if you still decide to), please read this page of my website:

It talks about the reasons for breeding, and what to breed. Breeding two mixed breed, random rabbits is very irresponsible and there is no reason for it. So if this is what you were planning on doing, please reconsider.
