Switching to Biodiesel?

I'm thinking about switching over-has anyone done it? And if so, would you recommend it?

I have used biodiesel, but not regularly.  It seems to work fine.  I don't drive far enough daily for a waste-grease conversion to do me any good either; your engine has to be started and warmed up on regular fuel before you can switch to grease, and by then I'm at work.

If you decide to use a biodiesel blend higher than the limits recommended by the manufacturer, be aware that some seals and other parts may not be compatible and you might void your warranty.  The same is true of "grease car" conversions.  If you are willing to swap out all the incompatible seals and such and don't care about de-coking your injectors from waste cooking grease because you expect the savings to pay for it, go for it.

I hear there are some diesel engines, like the old Lister types, which operate just fine on veggie oil if they're in a warm climate.  This is hearsay, your mileage may vary.

I run free wvo.Biodiesel to make it yourself can be dangerous around children.

Most vegetable oils used in commercial biodiesel come from oils not fit for animal,or human comsuption.

Alot of green groups are trying to say it will starve the world,wrong.

Fattywagons .com has the cheapest,and I think best setup.

Please don't, enough people are starving in the third world because of food shortages caused by the production of biofuel already.

Not yet, but most def.

LSU is already using all of its vegetable oil from different work places to produce "Diesel". It's going to be way cheaper, burns slower, and lubricates while it works

Production has already been on the way

Note: Some black guy down in New Orleans found the corrects elements, a little sodium hydroxide and others and you don't have to worry about burning food from the sarving, it all comes from waste not fit for human consumption

Hi,

I've been using biodiesel for more than 1 year. The biodiesel I'm using is waste vegetable oil converted to biodiesel using trans-esterification. The biodiesel is commercially produced.

No problems so far. I'm driving a diesel Land Rover. Benefits are less exhaust smoke during acceleration, knowing that I'm using a renewable energy source and doing my part for climate change.

The biodiesel I'm using is made from 100% WASTE vegetable oil - this means waste cooking oil from restaurants and food industry. I do not support biodiesel made from "virgin" vegetable oil.

I watched a program on Link TV obout it which was pretty cool. You can get used vegetable oil from fast food resteraunts free.

I am using Bio diesel and yes I would recommend it. I am making it myself, there are a lot of plans on the Internet to build your own set up but if you have the money I suggest  the Bio Pro380 but if you do a search on the Internet for bio diesel processor you can find some much cheaper than that one. I also recommend if you are switching over to switch to a blend first like a B20 (20% bio diesel) for couple of tanks and then move up to maybe B50 and then up to B100. The reason I recommend this is your motor may need some slight modifications like newer fuel lines because bio diesel is a pretty good solvent. Also when you first run it you will probably clog your fuel filter this is normal and the reason is the bio diesel will start to dissolve the deposits in your tank and lines and they will build up in the filter, after a tanks or two of bio diesel this will stop and you shouldn't have any more build up. But to start with blends is a good idea just to see how your motor will react to the bio diesel.

When I started using it I went with a B20 for about 500miles I had no problems and then to B50 with no problems then up to B80 and now I am switching to B100. I had to replace 3 fuel filters through the process and one length of fuel line but it works great. If you try just take it slow. I hope this was helpful, but I do recommend it my fuel bill is next to nothing and its all waste vegetable oil you can get form any fast food place.
