  1. With close friends and family you could say "hi" by pronouncing it "Hoy".  (Rhymes with soy...)  But this is a very

informal greeting.  I used it with my close Swiss friends while

I lived there.  But in the Zurich area, with strangers or co-workers, I used Gruetzi or guten tag (good day) or guten abend (good evening), guten nacht (good night). etc.

  2. It is not greuzi it is "Grüezi", but we have many dialects(accents), like "Griessach"

  3. Depending on the language, people greet differently. In Switzerland, where it borders with Germany, they greet in German, and the same where it borders with the other two countries. I live in Geneva and here you would greet in French (Bonjour) and kiss three times, alternating cheeks. I hope this helps!

  4. Just depend where in Switzerland

3 languages (official) German, French and Italian.

    So what is your question???

  5. In Zurich it's "Greuzi", in Bern it's "Grusse". Swiss people can tell where each other are from just by how they pronounce it.

Was that your question at all?
