Could any body assist in planning Switzerland tour.

I want to visit Switzerland for seven days in the month of Aug 08.

My journey will start from Zurich and I want to cover below spots:

Zurich - Geneva - Zermatt - Lausanne - Bern - Interlaken - Jungfraujouch - Lucerne - Engelberg - Schaffhausen - Zurich.

Also note I want to travel by Glacier Express and some other scenic trains in Swiss.

Appreciate your help to plan this tour.

  1. I'm not a tour operator but having lived in Switzerland for 8 years this is what I suggest :

    1. Day 1 :

Upon arrival in Zurich take the train to Chur. From there go to FALLERA. It's a small village at about 10km from St Moritz. The cows there are very friendly !!! You'll love them

    2.  Day 2

Go to Chur and take the train to Lucern . Wow ! What a city ! I recommend spending a night or two there and then off you go to La Suisse Romande !

    3. Day 3

The Intercity  train is ok but make a stop at Bern and Fribourg. When in Fribourg, go in for a fondu fribourgeoise ! in the old city. Please show off and ask for ...vacherin in the fondu ...Vacherin is a local cheese.  They will ask you whether you like it ...moitié - moitié or not ...this means half vacherin half gruyere cheese

    4. Day 4

If you can spend a day or two in Fribourg, go on a day trip to Lac Noir ! I won't say more ! Surprise !!!

    5.Day 5

Then back to the train station and take the Intercity.Lausanne-Genève . Get off  in Lausanne...and , by all means ! Visit Ouchy !

    6. Day 6

Geneva is about  a half-hour train ride from Lausanne. Once there I strongly recommend  a stay at Mon Repos Hotel (3 star) and great prices. Great hotel as well with a great view to Le Parc Des Eaux Vives

or........ if you can afford it ... Noga Hilton ! A unique experience !

    7. Day 7

In Geneva,  I recommend Palais de Justice in the Old City for a memorable Swiss dinner ~ a bit expensive but worth it !

Last but not least, take a boat trip on Leman Lake i You'll love it !

****  August 1st is  a National Holiday  in Switzerland. The best celebration is in the old city of the canton of Fribourg ! Don't miss it !!!

  2. Zurich - Lucern -1 night in Lucern then Interlaken 2 nights

In Interlaken it will take one day for the Jungfraujoch

Then off to Zermatt, 1 night Then to Geneva 1 night Then on the way to Schaffhausen stop in Bern. Then swing by Engelberg on the way back to Zurich. All can easily done by train The train rides are scenic but it might be good to stop at any of these places to discover the places more in details.

  3. I'd maybe look into some touring companies websites and see where their tours take them throughout Switzerland. I went to Lucerne last year, and of course found it to be amazing..

  4. to be truthful your not going to be able to c that much in just one week .

Then I dont see you making it to all those places in one week for there alot of travel and then once you get there you want to spend time.

I  would maybe pick one or two that interest you the most and spend several days in each otherwise you dont get to see as much.

Zermatt is good cause the matterhorn  and all the other places you listed have somegood things to see.

We went and we rented our own car allowing us to drive where we wanted.
