Swnymor preparing for Cheltenham Festival
After taking a tumble in his most recent outing, Swnymor is hoping to prepare for the Cheltenham Festival by delivering a positive result in his upcoming races. He has got a pretty decent record and proved to be a very good jumper over hurdles.
However, he was unable to make an impression last time around, despite being rated quite highly by the bookmakers. He could have ended up in the top three back then, but took a heavy fall through the midway. Luckily, he did not suffer any serious injuries
and seems to be in a good position.
His team will still have to evaluate his overall form and fitness before sending him into any tough competition. He is a wonderful galloper and has performed really nicely on flat turfs, but the real challenge is to be competitive over hurdles and fences.
Overall, the four-year-old gelding has participated in nine races, winning a couple of them whereas secured the third spot on the same number of times. In addition to that, he has finished as a runner up on three occasions, which shows that he does not like
settling for lesser positions.
Dylan Thomas’ son has participated in just one race this year and that did not prove to be much lucky for him. However, his form in the 2012 season was pretty good, as he kept on challenging his rivals with consistency. He will be looking to continue the
same sort of momentum in the upcoming events, especially the bigger ones like the Cheltenham Festival.
His trainer, Tim Vaughan, stated, “Swnymor is in great form at home and I am very keen to get him to the racecourse in the next week for a confidence booster following his fall at the last in the Finale Hurdle at Chepstow last month.”
He added, “We had given him an entry in the at Haydock Park on Saturday but that has just come a little too quick as we missed a bit of work after Chepstow and, in any case, following discussions with owner Carl Hinchy this week we have come to the decision
that we would rather find a slightly easier task for him on what will be his final start before the Triumph next month.”
