  1. You can use any o/s cd but the lisence key number is stuck to that pc so use the cd key on there pc but install windows on there pc with your O/S cd.

  2. Only if you have a Microsoft Windows CD that you bought INDEPENDENTLY & not provided with your computer by your Hardware vendor. Say you bought a Dell & Dell gave you the OS CD, It will not work on your friends computer if its an HP or Comapq, or even another series from Dell (Different Dell series)

  3. yes you can as i have found that the disc sometimes become damaged .and if you have come across a computer with an illegal o/s you can buy the serial therefor you are only paying microsoft for the key.

  4. Yes, If they are both XP Home then there's not a single problem as the files on both discs are exactly the same

  5. yes it should work  but make them a copy for now

of get a fresh xp trial off microsoft.com

  6. Yes. That is quite a common practice.

  7. Yes you can. As long as you are using a Windows XP installation Disc it will work with both OEM discs & shop bought versions of the product. If you both have OEM installations then it is simply the case of putting their product key in when the install program asks for it. Then the installation will continue as normal. The same goes if you are both using shop bought XP discs.

The only time you will encounter problems is if you try and enter an OEM key into a shop bought installation disc (or the other way round). The installation program will simply tell you that you don't have a valid key & will refuse to complete the installation in that case.

  8. I think you could. I don't see why it wouldn't...

  9. no it wont work with there CD key. it would bypass the whole reason for a CD key being there.

you would have to use your own cd key for it. but i have been told on many forums when i was in that situation, to download a copy and use that, as long as you have a valid licence on the PC it is going to be used for, and a licence for that version of windows.
