T Microphone

Question

I purchased a Microphone Madness T mike to use with my Sharp 877, but find that the level is way too high for use in recording a musical instrument - the level was OK from the other end of the house).  The recording volume control did not sem to have a significant effect on the level - it was lighting the overload indicator consistantly.  Any experience with this microphone, or the Sony ECM-DS70P and the Sharp 877 would be appreciated.  I will return this microphne for the Sony if I am confident it will work better.
