what dose a negative t stat mean? something like t=-2

  1. A letter like t has meaning in some context.

    We could be discussing tuberculosis testing for cattle, in which case negative t would mean no tuberculosis. But without some context a negative t is meaningless.


  2. If you are talking about Student's t-test, a t = - 2 result would indicate an extremely low confidence level that your null hypothesis is untrue. (t = 0, like z = 0 yields p = 0.50000) on a two-tailed distribution.)

  3. The only way you could get a negative t stat is if you were recording your data in negative values. If not, I would guess you have an error in your calculations.
