TV TROUBLES!! Please Help!?

I have a new(ish) T.V. it's just out of warranty. The colour of the television has changed the hue colours are changed to different colours eg. blue is red weird! The colour change is in the shape of a circle and is in rings. The shape and size of the circle changes everytime the television is turned on. I have asked a person at the local retrevision and the guy says it's because of a "magnetic field" it all seems a bit bazare to me, please help!

If your set is a CRT type TV then this is what has happened !!! Based on your description the auto degauss has failed mid cycle ! . When the set is switched on at the wall socket from cold ( not standby ) then the degauss coils are activated for less than a second through a thermistor which heats up very quickly and shuts off the current to the degauss coils , if the thermistor fails mid cycle then the CRT gets magnetised or Gaussed !!!!.

What you can try now is to switch set off at mains wall socket ! let cool off for 20mins or longer then switch set back on !! You may have to do this 2 or 3 times to get it right again ! If that method fails you will have to get a Tv Tech to replace the thermistor and manually degauss the set !!!

Do you have anything with magnetism near the TV?  A magnetic field will cause rings and colors to change.  I wonder if anything inside the set has changed?  A magnetic coil that shifted?  It could be that the horizontal scan or vertical scan became defective.  One f the inner components of the set could have failed and has been causing this phenomenon.
