Question:

Taco Bell questions...?

My bro and I just got back from Taco Bell and I noticed they had a Hiring notice on the counter. I thought applying and working there would be a good opportunity because it's only two blocks from where I live but I got some questions first. What exactly do you do there? Could I specify if I just want to make the food, buff the tables, mop the floors, and haul out the trash? I don't want to be cashier or clean toilets. And yes, I'm old enough. (going on 17)

  1. Be honest with them on the app and tell them you dont do money and i am sure they will understand most guys dont anyhow

  2. of course, just let them know your intentions as a future employee and see if that fits into what they are looking for.

  3. First, do you REALLY want to work or are you looking for spending money?  Because what ever job you have in life and how you perform at that job will follow you.  If you came to me a specified what you wanted to do I'd take that into consideration but, considering there is only so much, by law, at 17 year can do and not get hurt.  I think you should ask what is available for your age.  If you don't want what is available then you really don't need to work or want to work and I'd think twice about hiring you.

  4. I once had a guy come to work for me who said he really wanted to work for me because, like you, he could walk to work and he didn't have a car. Plus he heard the company was a good one with benefits. The day after he started work I came in to a dirty shop and the floor wasn't even swept. When I asked him what happened, why wasn't the floor swept up, he told me "I didn't take the job to sweep no floors". Guess what? He had the job for a total of 9 hours!  In every job I've had in my life (I am 66) I did every job the company required of me from day one. I usually wound up in charge down the road. This is in jobs from helper on a truck, short order cook, night man at one of the first McDonalds and right on up to retiring as a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force (as a basic trainee in the USAF I once cleaned two flights of wooden stairs with a tooth brush as a punishment for an infraction!). Be smart and never go into a job saying what you WON'T do but, there wouldn't be anything wrong with asking your boss (with a smile on your face) what you need to do to make sure someone else has to do the dirty jobs in the future - just don't do it the first day, give the boss a chance to see what a good worker you are first! Again, best of luck to you

  5. Dude, entry level job means you do it all.  Sometimes, girls get out of restroom duties but boys never do.  Work hard and maybe one day you won't have to clean the john.  Cashier duty is a cake walk once you learn the buttons..Duh.  In a ground floor position, you don't tell the hiring person what you want to do, you do what your told..Period.  You will have many jobs in your life where you don't get to do just what you want.  Get used to it now.

  6. Just put down on the application "cook"

Sometimes depending on your position the sidework will be different. More than likely it will be the cashiers cleaning the tables in the restaurant when they don't have customers. You'll need to clean up the back area. Your sidework will probably be stocking up the cooking area and the bathroom work might be the cashiers though.
