Alrite. I put in a new deck in my car and i had to mess around with the wires, now my tail lights and dashboard lights wont come on. i was wondering just what color wires connect the lights to the battery, and are they in the set that go to the deck? i have a 99 sunfire btw.

  1.   Another thing to check is to make sure you didnt blow a fuse. You might have grounded a wire on the set up. But if you cant find a blown fuse then check your connections, I find that often customers set up the constant hot wire (memory) to the wrong location and cause problems.

  2. you've disruppted the loom. go back in there and reconnect the wires you moved to where they were.. start over.  use only the fuse block for power. use the accy lug for power and a constant lug for the memory in the radio. you got the ignition wire and the loop to the lights.  start over.. easier than a fire...

  3. The first thing you need to do is look for the 20 amp exterior lamp fuse that is in the fuse box inside the car. I am guessing this fuse has probably been blown during the installation of the deck.

If the fuse blows again, you need to remove the deck and look for the brown wire coming to the radio harness. This is the wire that comes off the dash/tail lamp circuit. I believe it is intended to dim the display when the head lamps are on. There is a second wire going to the radio that probably allows dimming of the stereo lights with the rheostat for controlling the dash lamps. This wire is gray. Not all radios harnesses will have both wires. But if your's does, they have to be hooked up correctly. If in doubt, don't hook them up at all. The deck will function just fine without them
