I'm new to snowboarding and I've heard "tail check" a lot. What is it and how do you do it?

  1. I think you probably mean "speed check," which means intentionally slowing yourself down.  For instance, you often speedcheck on the way to a jump to make sure you hit it at the right speed, and don't overshoot it.

There is a trick called a tailblock, but if you are hearing it all the time, you probably mean speed check.

  2. I agree with the first post.  You probably mean speed check.  It is means that you shave off some speed right before hitting a jump or jib.
