i'm senior this year who has ambitions to get into UC Berekely

In junior year, I took 4 AP classes and 2 honors, got A's and B's.

But this year, i'm planning to take only 3 AP, 1 honor and

2 easy classes (Health, Computer Intro) for number of reasons.

Will it leave a huge bad impression on the transcription?

I heard a lot that the number of AP classes must increase

as I go from junior to senior.

Will it look really bad, even though I get decent grades in

those 3 AP classes?

These are my grades schedules and grades so far:

Junior>> AP US history (B)

AP English Language (B)

AP Calculus AB (A)

AP Drawing (A)

Honor Chemistry (A)

Honor Spanish (A)

Senior>> AP Chemistry

AP Economy

Honor English Composition

Service (Health in second semester)

AP Calculus BC

Computer Intro

help, please!

  1. Go to the UC Berkeley webpage...admissions, they will clearly outline the requirements in terms of courses needed to apply.  They will focus on your unweighted GPA (that is the only way they can compare students from different schools) and your SAT/ACT scores....extracurricular activities.....etc.  Good luck! 2. So getting into UC Berkely is very hard. Your grades look good and what colleges like to see is improvement. I don't know specifically on this college but they like to see your Bs in history or something go to A's the next year. Also they look at your senior load. You want to challenge yourself that year as well even though they don't always get your senior grades on the transcript because you have to apply earlier. For your first grading period of the senior try to get a 4.0 just so they see improvement. It also depends on your grades sophmore and freshman years. You should try to take more AP classes senior year if you can. They like to see you trying even though you may get a B or something, its better then taking a lower class and getting an A. But this is just getting into college in general. Also consider extra activities, Berkely gets so many AP and IB people who have a 4.0 but you need to stand out. You need to stand out from everyone else and even though you don't have a 4.0 you can get in if you have certain things that make you jump out.

  3. Don't stress it.

Colleges give more importance to the classes you took in your first 3 years of high school.

Your senior classes most likely will come up as "planned" once you input them for college apps; this means that they are still uncertain. So far it looks good. Remember, if the colleges you are applying for require essays, such as a personal statement for the UC system, those essays can either make of break you. Take time and focus on those essays because if you have 3 AP's, an honor, class, and extracurricular activities (which I hope you do) time management might be difficult.

I'm saying this because I've seen students who have great grades yet they did not make it into the big schools they wanted to go.

Good luck in your Senior year, good luck with those applications.

  4. You shouldn't stress yourself out senior year because-- h**l its you're last year! I think 3 AP courses is more than enough to please your teachers and it will also look lovely in your transcript. And what you heard is untrue-- you can take as many or as little AP classes as you want because in the end all you're going after is college credit :).

Plus if you take 3 AP courses you'll have a discount of $20 at payment for taking the tests. You'll be fine. With such a beautiful record you'll make it to Berkely for sure :)
