Tampered with electric meter?

my ex , took advantage of me and pretended to b concerned when my dad died , over the period of a 2 months he was running errands 4 me ,he also went out and bought electric 4 me via a key,, only now ive heared that he didnt buy electric but pocketed the money and rigged my metre instesd, ive noticed the seals arent there,and i want to tell the hydro but im scared incase they cut my supply of as ive a teenager and a my other daughter is due to give birth today, what will i do ? plese help

You need to talk to the company, and explain what happened.  I used to read meters, and any loss was taken seriously.  Shutting off power is preferable to jail time.  If your ex turned it back far enough, they will know about the tampering and boot it.

Call the electric company and ask them when they received your last payment. Then if no payments had been made to your account explain that you sent a payment with your ex.and then tell them that it looks like they need to check your meter because it doesn't look right. They will work out payment arrangements with you.

When I moved into my deceased grandpas place I noticed some unusually low numbers so I just got hold of the power company and had them replace the meter...its pretty hard for the power company to prove who may have tampered with a meter, just play dumb, the less they know the better.

The flipside that benefits you is that they the power company didn't notice the missing seals.
