Okay so basically I was away for 3 weeks in Europe wearing t-shirts and now I have a t-shirt tan that I want to get rid of without having to be in public - aka a tanning salon but I'm not sure what the age is in New York that you have to be. I'm 17 so would I be able to go by myself or is the age 18?

  1. I am not sure how to answer your question because the laws differ between each county. In Nassau county the laws are:

Age 14-15: Your parent needs to sign a waiver for you to be able to tan and must be present during all of your sessions.

Age 16-17: Your parent needs to sign a waiver for you to be able to tan but they do not need to be present during your sessions.

Age 18+: There are no restrictions for tanning.

The laws are similar In Suffolk County.

You should definitely be able to tan at your age but i would bring a parent to the tanning salon with you just in case they need to sign papers or be present for your sessions.

A Tanning salon would be great for evening out your tan but i would not recommend going more than 3 - 4 times a week.

    Hope i Helped

    Happy Tanning!
