Tanning when TTC?...

Question

Hey ALL-

I'm just finishing up my period & going to start ttc baby # 2 with hubby!... although i would like to go tanning in a tanning salon? will this hurt the chances of me TTC or im just being overly cautious? ... i'm due to ovulate on August 10th!

I think it is OK to tan while TTC, but after you BD during OV I would defintely cease tanning until you know your not or are. I found this info and thought it might be helpful as to why tanning while in the first trimester is not good.

Overheating (also called hyperthermia), particularly during the first trimester, can result in developmental damage to your baby, including spinal malformations.

No, it will not affect your chances. The ultraviolet rays only affect your skin, they don't do anything internally. The old stories about the girl that went to 10 different tanning beds in one day before prom and melted her insides is completely false. So although it's not the healthiest thing in the world, and I've certainly done it, tanning will not affect your ability to conceive.

Most likely not, but sperm survive in cooler conditions, and when you tan it increases your temperature, making the sperm possibly not being able to survive in there, but other than that no, but i would reccomend not tanning if you do become pregnant, or at least cut back a little.
