hi, my tax credits are being investigated apparently as routine, i have a concern over my bank account its still in my ex partners and my name so think they'll see this as fraud although we live apart. stupid i know. anyway im just wondering if i have to pay money back will tax credits stop paying me as they help towards childcare and i could not afford it myself or would the carry on paying and hust deduct a amount. if they dont help towards childcare ill have to quit my job and there for will need to claim job seekers allounce. im worried need advice.

  1. The joint bank account will need to be explained.

    You and your partner will need to show whose income is being deposited into the account and who is spending the money.  If it's your partner's income and expenses, this should not affect you--other than the hassle of proving it.


  2. I assume you are referring to receiving advance earned income credit payments during the year.  I think that the advance credit payments will discontinue if you are found to not qualify for the credit.

    Just give them whatever information they ask for, no more or no less.  If you can provide some proof of when your partner moved out that might help explain the bank account situation.
