  1. Try to learn how to do a back extension first as this will help develop your arm and shoulder strength.  Once you can do that well and slower rather than faster (doing such things requires more strength and balance when doing them slower) then try to learn how to do a back flip and a back hand spring.  You  can try to practice your back flip at the pool maybe off of the diving board.  Things were you go blindly back are difficult to learn not only because they require a lot of flexibility and balance but also because they require you to go blindly back and you have a natural reaction to turn your head which throws everything off.  By learning how to do a back extension, back flip and back hand spring you will over come this natural reaction and then be able to learn a back walk over.

  2. It depends on how much experience you have with the back walk-over. If you can do a back bend while standing and not just doing it from the ground then that's a good start. Then you may want to start doing back walk-overs from the side of your bed. As you get better you can kick off from lower places. What I do is go on a hill with your feet higher up then your hands and it helps with your kick off. Once you've got that down you can try on a flat soft surface. Good luck!
