My stepdaughter is almost 5 yrs old and has been to speech therapy for about a month now. We now have the child for summer visitation and both her father and I feel and understand how very important it is to continue her therapy being that she just started and really needs this. We have both called and sent an email to her therapist office asking that they give us the plan of care and also if they can recommend some exercises of what to do at home with her. We also want to try to do games or read any books that might help us help my stepdaughter.

It’s only been four days since all of this, however, the child missed her last two therapy sessions because her mother just didn’t want to take her. I understand things come up and stuff happens, but the bigger focus is that this means the child has gone for 3 wks now without any sessions and this worries both her Dad and I a great deal. I’m not a speech pathologist and I really don’t know HOW to help my stepdaughter.

  1. I work with children in anursery seting and you ar quite right it is in the childs bes intrests to attend her thearpy sessions, however the best advice I coud give to you is jsut to role model and use langauge around her, I have found a nice website that may be of help http://www.speechdelay.com/testrosettlan...

If it is possible contact your stepdaughters school, to try and contact a speech threapist to visit her at school.

Also if you live in England google early support, and browse the website in familie you wil find speech and langauge difficulities it may be of some helphttp://www.earlysupport.org.uk/decMateri...
