  1. I don't know what the laws are in Australia, I live in the USA.  But I do know that, wherever you live, a girl who keeps her parents in the dark is less likely to receive prompt, appropriate treatment in the event of a complication.  So you really should talk to your parents.  You might be suprised to find that they're more supportive than you think!

  2. 16 is the age of sexual consent in Australia so I suppose the answer is she wouldn't need consent from a parent to attend a clinic.  But in saying that (as a mum) I really think that you should confide in someone that you trust.  Whatever decision that you make you are going to need someone around you that cares and if that isn't a parent it might be a friends parent that you trust.  Good luck sweety.

  3. yes she can do it on her own without her parents i did two times before i was ready to have my son now 2months old.  (i live in NSW) go to marie stopes clinic.

  4. I don't think that abortion is the right thing to do. But you should have totally told your parents!! At least your mom! They will tell you what to do and help you a lot!! You will need to go to the hospital sometime so might as well tell someone SOON!!!

  5. yes! I live in fremantle and you don't have to tell your parents at all!

My 16 year old sister just got one last week at fremantle hospital and the rents have no idea!

EDIT: your 16, in perth WA your parents don't legally have to know anything, you're old enough to be sexually active on your own and your old enough to get pregnant on your own, so therefore old enough to get an abortion on your own!

please email me if you need more advice...

Please don't listen to the people on here who do not know what they're talking about!

  6. you can applyfor you own medicare card, can't you?

    so parents can't find out.

  7. i believe you can go to the clinic buy yourself, but i think you have to have someone there to pick you up like a friend of something to help you home and stay with you for your safety, also you shouldnt take public transport after ... Marie Stopes have a website that should have information for you and you can alway call and ask them... im sure they will be nice. Do you have your own Medicare Card? That would help i think.

Make sure this is def what you want to do as there is no goin back after. Good luck and take care. There are plenty of ppl that can help you, try calling the Kids Help Line they might have some more information.

  8. Laws are different in each state...In Western Australia, If you are over 16 then you do not need to inform your parents although it would be advisable to do so. There is a counselling process before an abortion is given, at that age you can choose if you want your parents to take part or not.

Even if her parents are informed the choice is still the girls!

Call FPWA for more information, its confidential, they are located in Northbridge they can point you in the right direction!

  9. a parent's consent is needed....of course, the parents should now about what operation their child is going to have soon. besides,I THINK you can't get an abortion if ur not of legal age.

  10. u will have to tell ur parents sorry hospitals don't like to cut childern open without parents ok

  11. No.

  12. you have to have consent,

    Sorry girll

  13. NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  14. Yes you can - you don't need consent at your age.  I too live in Australia.  Seek as much advice as possible first though please.  One thing you will need though is an emergency contact person written down for the medical procedure - so ask a friend or a teacher or a sibling or a cousin or something.  Go to Marie Stopes.  Good luck :)
