Question:

Tempature gauge Problem?

I have a 97 dodge neon and , i overfilled the oil by like a cm about 2 months ago the radiator fluid is fine. But the problem is the temp gauge arm is maybe an 1/8 below the mid way mark i was just wondering is this a concern and what to do about it?

  1. I wouldn't worry too much about it, as long as the needle never touches or comes within 1/4 of a inch of the 'H' (Hot). The temperature gauge only displays the current temperature of the gauge, not the fluid. On average, the needle will only go about a 1/4 of an inch above the half-way mark when the vehicle has reached optimal operating temperature and will remain there until the engine has cooled. Hope this helps!

  4. your fine! as long as it don,t go into the hot mark, there,s nothing to worry about. if your concerned about it, change the thermostat.
