Question:

Temperature of Frost on Cars?

I would like to know at what temperature does frost and ice water begin to develop on cars at night.

Im in Australia at the moment, and we are in winter. I have bought a new car and enjoy keeping it clean at every chance i get.

However, whenever i wash my car, and it is a cold night, moisture starts to develop on my car and in the morning my whole car is covered in water, which makes it a waste of washing my car the night before because i end up with many spots when the moisture dries up.

So anyway, can someone tell me the exact point that moisture starts to develop on cars from a cold night?

Thanks in advance.

  1. Yes , moisture begins to form on anything when the temperature reaches the same degree as the dewpoint.

For instance, you will have 10*C for air temp and 10*C for your dewpoint, and only then will you have condensation on the ground.

During the summer months, well here in the states, it is easier for dew to form just because the dewpoints are relatively high, along with the air temperature.

  2. 32 degrees
