If I'm playing doble, serving from deuce and I hit the opponent on the adv. side with the ball, without it ever touching the ground, is it my point?

  1. Yes it is your point, providing that the serve did not hit the net. But just to let you know (incase you didnt) you havent won the point towards your set. Its back to deuce (unless your playing diff rules)


  2. Yes, it's your point.  Along with being clearly stated in the rulebook for that given scenario, it actually violates two other rules.  1. You must let the ball bounce before you return the serve. 2. The receiving team's returner must be the first to contact the ball.  Basically, the net player isn't allowed to jump over and return the serve.

    Here is the rule from USTA

    Case 7. A ball that has just been served hits the receiver or in

    doubles the receiver’s partner before it touches the ground.

    Which player wins the point?

    Decision. The server wins the point, unless it is a service let.
