Terrible female trouble?

When I was 13 I was diagnosed with ovarian cysts. I was put on a birth control which solved the problem. That was 14 years ago. I've gotten married and had two children since then. About 9 months after having my second child, I started getting my period every two weeks. I get cramps that are so bad that it makes me throw up and basically unable to function. I get my period for 5-7 days every two weeks and it's extrememly heavy with heavy clotting. And about 2-3 days before I get my period I get SERIOUSLY emotional and annoyed. Like I can't tolerate anyone or anything and I'm normally a very tolerant person. My great grandmother had a hysterectomy at 26, my grandmother had a hysterectomy at 35, and my mother had a hysterectomy at 39. I made an appt. at the gyn. but I'm afraid of what they're going to tell me. Has anyone gone through anything similar? I'm also afraid that they're going to put me back on a birth control which will cause me to gain weight. I'm 27 and it is EXTREMELY hard for me to lose weight. I gained 68lbs with my first child and 30 with my second. I've finally dropped 30lbs, but it was terribly hard. I just don't want it to be any harder than it already is.

  1. Make sure you are not pregnant and take this seriously.  Get to your doctor as soon as possible and make sure he screens for ectopic pregnancy.  Get your environment as peaceful as possible.

Try this exercise: Lying on your back with your knees bent and your heels as close as possible to your bum.  Push up with your legs keeping your bum tucked and your back straight, allowing the weight to go onto your shoulders.  Make a triangle with your calves, back and floor.  Keep this position for a count to ten.  Ease down and repeat.  Don't forget to breathe.  Inhale on the floor and exhale when you push up.

It sounds like you did not breastfeed your children.  This may have set up situation your body reads as loss/death.  Your body may be in mourning.  Do some extra cuddling and snuggling with your children to get some extra loving hormones active in your body.  Everybody needs some extra love.

  2. the gyno will know best. It sounds like birthcontrol might help the situation.

  3. I've never experienced anything like this, but I really think you need to go to a doctor as soon as you can.  This could be something serious, or it could be nothing.  But either way, I bet there is something besides birth control that can help you reduce the number of periods you get, and the severity of your cramps.

Good luck, and I hope you can help!
