  1. LOL!  Good question and I am sure everyone would like to know this answer!

Unfortunately, unless you hold the absolute best POSSIBLE poker hand at the flop, the turn or at the showdown, there is no way to know this. That may be why it is called gambling!

Here is a lot of FREE poker strategy that  may help you out.

  2. ur never gonna no just u gotta go with ur gut and if ur p0laying in person try and read there face

  3. Watch the river and compere them with your original flop.

  4. How can you know BEFORE you see the other person's cards?  One sure way is to figure out what "the nuts" are.  That's the best hand anyone could possibly have given the cards on the table.

For instance, let's say the table shows 2C (2 of clubs), 5S, JS, 8D, 4S.  What is the best hand someone could make out of those cards plus the two in their hand?  There are no pairs on the table, so no four-of-a-kind or full house is possible.  The best x-of-a-kind possible is three jacks.  Some of the other cards close together; someone might have 2-6 or 4-8 straight.  For that they would have started with either 3-6 or 6-7 AND stayed in until the last table card was shown hoping for the 4.  Also, there are three spades on the table, if anyone has two spades in their hand, they have a flush.  The A of spades would be the best.  Even if it's paired with the 2S, it would still make an ace-high flush.  KS and QS are the next best.  I could definitely see someone staying in until the River card if they started with A-K, A-Q, or K-Q of spades and two more came out on the Flop.  If the other guy starts betting big when the third spade hits the table, he's showing an ace- or king-high flush.  (He might be bluffing, but that's what he's showing.)

Of course, if you have the nuts (in this case, the ace and another spade) you know you're winning.  With anything else you can't be absolutely positive.

I guess the point is you have figure out what cards the other player might have that could beat you and see if the way they were betting is consistent with holding those cards.

The best way to get good at figuring out the nuts is to just plain old practice.  Deal out five cards face up and see if you can tell what two cards you'd like to hold to make the best hand.  Start at the bottom and work your way up: what's the best pair you can make? best two-pair? best three-of-a-kind? straight? flush? full house? four-of-a-kind? straight flush?  Of course, even if the table shows five c**p cards, the best pair is two aces.

  5. You will never know until you come to the showdown and the cards are revealed.  For more information on this subject I refer you to Learn to Win Holdem.

  6. Online poker sites have lots of games that you can play for play-money. This is a great way to learn the different games, because you can play hundreds of hands and learn without suffering the financial beating that beginners tend to take at the hands of experienced players.

Beware however, of the fact that in the play money games a lot of players tend to come out with their guns blazing, betting on and raising hands that, if they were playing for real money, they might have been better off folding.  Don't pick up bad habits, and expect the play to be quite a bit tighter and more pensive when you eventually play for real money. Watch professional poker on TV and take notice of how many hands the pros fold. They know from experience that in order to win they need to choose their battles.

BTW, I'm still a beginning poker player, by far not an expert, but by playing the play-money games, I've learned a lot about the odds, when to fold, when to raise, how to use the mannerisms of your opponents to your advantage, and even how to use a bluff from time to time...all for free. So check these out. You'll have a lot of fun and learn a lot too!

  7. First you have to know what beats what.  If you know you got the absolute nuts than you know you can win.  Lets say there is a possible flush out on the board and you got a full house you can bet someone at the table has a flush even a Ace high flush and you know you can beat that so bet it and you can guarantee someone w/ the flush will call you.
