Question:

Thank-you gift for boss

I've been working part-time for a lawyer for a year and a half. He's been great. He put up with my sloppy work when I first started, and his wife has given me legal advice over the phone. He's a very admirable guy and I want to give him a nice gift before my last day tomorrow. I'm definitely going to get him a thank-you card and a gift. Can you think of any gift ideas for a boss that is personal, yet not intimate? Also, anything less than $100 because I'm not well-off financially.

  1. For Bosses Day I got my boss a basket from Cookies By Design. He took it home and shared it with his wife and kids.

I spent about $50. I think he really liked it and you can get a cookie bouquet to say just about anything including "Thanks for Being Awesome!"

  2. the cookie thing is a good idea.  or maybe a frame for his desk with pics of his wife and kids (his wife could help you put pics in it!) or a paperweight.  something he can share with his family or put on his desk to remind him that he is an inspiration to someone.

  3. How about a charging valet to charge his cell phone, digital camera and other devices.  It is a nice organizer typically made out of wood. The electrical cord is hidden. It can also hold his wallet, keys, etc.  Crate & Barrel has a mahogany one I really like it.  It is currently on sale $79.95, was $100.  It is a present that not only your boss will like but also the wife will appreciate that he has a neat place with all his stuff and you will look thoughtful and professional.

You can probably find it other places and maybe find a similar one for less.

  4. A nice bottle of wine.

  5. i think a nice card will do.

  6. I'm sure that the card will be very much appreciated but if you feel that you must also give a gift then give him a gift certificate at a very nice restuarant. It doesn't have to be expensive. Some place with good food and atmosphere. Cheesecake Factory for example. Not over $100.00

I know exactly how you feel. Some people are terrific to work for. I've also done the same. Just give him the card and forget about the gift certificate. He'll understand. Believe me, he doesn't expect it. He's happy to have you work for him and doing a good job.

  7. how about a gift card to his favorite restaurant
