The Book... is it any good?.?

The Book

A book once looked up to find a face

Looking at him with an intense interest

And turning his pages with a certain tenderness

The book marveled and asked

“Why do you gaze at me with love and curiosity?

I have nothing to offer but dying words and ancient ideas”

The book asked, ” would you not do better

to contemplate the sun or study your brother”?

the face answered with a passionate understanding

Saying “ you book are my sun

for you bring light to my darkness,

You are also my brother for you commune

with me in my loneliness

You give me much for your dying

words are my living thoughts and your

ancient ideas are my tomorrows deeds”.

I Liked it. you did great. A book can be so interesting and what better to write a poem about, than a book.

How about taking this in a different direction at first to set up the story more.  For example:

Books of the ancients ever revered

held magic and wisdom to behold

and for the very few they would speak

thus knowledge passed from print to mind

Centuries passed and dusty shelves gathered

the ancient books waited but no one came

until one day................

Keep at it, I do think you have a great idea to develop.
