Today is earth day and at school we went around the school and picked up garbage and it gave me and my friends and idea. We thought of starting a green club. We decided to pick up garbage around the school once a month during school or after school. Also we are starting a recycling program. The only problem is idk what else to do and i need to write a paper to the princable explaining why i want to do this and what we are going to do.

  1. You could help start a community project, such as a community garden or planting trees.  You can discuss green renovations with your school and with students and their familites.  Try encouraging the students to pack green lunches (local, organic foods), and the cafeteria to prepare healthier, greener foods.

  2. Wow -- What a great idea.

You can relate it to a science project or citizenship.

Chart what products show up the most.

Discuss the cost benefits... like it takes about 60% less energy and water to make recycled paper than new paper.

(It might be fun to find out how to make recycled paper or new products from aluminum cans and stuff and present to class.)

Learn about trees and how to take care of them... like a new tree needs about 20 gallons of water a week or the effect of  plants (like annuals vs perennals) in the tree pits

  3. We should do that everyday.

  4. pick up trash in other places. Like state parks. And if it is OK, can I use that idea to? Spread the word about the environmental crisis. Put up posters. In your cafeteria, enforce a zero waste program (that's what my school is doing). Buy recycled material. You could probably think of more, but I hope that I helped. = ]
