The NZ HAKA?

Should the world cup quarter finalists dictate when they should perform the haka, when they visit cardiff later in the year, or should New Zealand respect the traditions of the home team and allow the home teams customs and traditions - to be performed last - at home, like everyone else manages to do - without getting upset etc?

  1. This pre-game dance by the kiwis is a bit g*y to be honest!

Why do they do it - rather humiliating!

  2. Rock of Edinburgh,

The Scottish win/loss record against the All Blacks is humiliating.

  3. What matters is the final score....

Whether the AB's perform the haka on the field or in the changing rooms...it doesn't change the outcome of the last time Wales and NZ met.....

So....I don't really care...I was just pleased that we won.....

Go watch your team play and worry about that before trying to get a rise out of us AB fans...we're too busy watching the TriNations.....

PS:  I do love the Bread of Heaven singing though...it's great!

  4. i think the haka is such a huge part of the tradition of rugby that you have to allow the spectacle that is the haka to go when it has traditionally gone, right before the whistle.

im in favour of the home team doing its thing, but the haka is so engrained id allow it. to me its kinda like not allowing the harlem globetrotters to clown thier opposition. some things just should not be messed with.

  5. I'm all for the Haka but in my opinion  it's Cardiff and Wales have their traditions too, so the All Blacks should perform it when they are allowed or perform it in the dressing room.

  6. When the All Blacks do the haka , the welsh should do whatever they please.  If they wanna sing or dance or whatever, who cares?

The All Blacks can respect the hosts and toughen up, they spend too much time being precious and complaining when they don't like it.    -  Tough Cookies.

The Haka is important and most people in the world love seeing it (and seeing the AB's use up energy), but why is it more important than ANYTHING else other people want to do - Answer - It isn't.

  7. I totally agree with [Mz Noa Aotearoa Roks] the final scores what matters..... & plus it wouldnt take a person with a brain 2 figure out who would win out of the 2 teams so I think the AB's visiting Cardiff 2 vs Wales is a total waste of time

  8. The village idiots should sort their game out and concentrate on playing some decent rugby before their fans start baiting NZers with questions about customs and traditions.

The ABs are going to rip the heart out of the dragon - singing your little lungs out before or after the haka will not change that.

Kapa haka, waiata and rugby are three very different things, sad that three things that could bring two nations closer together should be seen as points of contention rather than celebration.

Lets hope that as the hosts, and glorious grand slam five nations champs, Wales will have the manners to be good hosts "without getting upset etc?"

(I know it's hard when we thump you all the time, but at least you have a fighting chance now that you have poached one of our best coaches)

Edit: yeah good point. I guess we didn't really think about our traditions seeming to be more important, and for so long the order of singing and Haka has been the same - so why the sudden need to change things?

I don't think enzers inherently think our customs and traditions are more important than those of the Welsh - if we seem upset, it's probably because of the way the WRU asked us to make changes at short notice - seemed like a pointless manoeuvre to crudely dissempower the AB performance. I hope the two unions can work things out in a proffessional manner before we go up North.

Personally I don't have a problem with changing the order of things, but you have to realize that haka should be met with haka, and when playing Pacific Island nations, they do reply with haka. Having the Welsh fans reply to haka with song is unusual and is a break with tradition - Why is it not enough for the anthems to be sung with Wales performing your anthem last, as has always been the case? Why try to s***w with our tradtions and customs by suggesting that the fans, not the team reply to our haka with song!

And do you plan to extend this discourtessy  to all Pacific Island nations or just the boys in black?

  9. I think they should just stick to how its always been and Wales should stop complaining about when it's performed. When the All Blacks did it in the lockers it was a bit of a shock for all the fans expecting to see it so if the Welsh wanna f**k with tradition f**k em

  10. cant say i have a problem when we do the haka...

whether its before or after wales does their thing...its still a challange...step up.
