Question:

The Old Bailey Online?

I posted this question yesterday but for some reason its not showing up anywhere apart from my profile!

I want to know whether it is just Londoners (ie, those from Middlesex) that were tried at the old bailey, or whether people from other areas of the country, ie Kent or South London where also tried there in the 1800s. If it was only Londoners, where else should I look to see if my ancestors were involved in crime?

  1. on the screen for "all English questions, it presently got to page 5.. it has just gotten pushed back.  It is there.

Can't help you on the other part.  You had no answers on the first post either, it might be that no one knows the solution.

    Good luck!

  2. The Old Bailey was the Central Criminal Court in London and the trials were for crimes committed there.

I don't think there are any other sites dealing with specific county trials, but the TNA has digitised images of criminals from all over.
