The baby name Dilema?

Question

I'm torn between choosing family names, which I like the idea of, or just choosing names I like and wondered if anyone had some thoughts...

1. Choose a family name of a family member who is important to me (either as a first or a middle) even if that is not one of my favorite names

2. Choose a family name from my family tree because I like the name alot even if that person is someone I never actually met.

3. Choose a name that I really like even though it has no connection to my family.

ahah i thought you were gonna name it dilema too - btw thats a cute name ! and a funny story if you name it that ahah - but i would choose 2, cuz then to your child you can say you were names after your _____ . i think thats the best one, and then 1 as a middle name :)

I would combine a name from 1 and 3. This was way you're traditional and modern at the same time.

I think you choose a name of a family member who is important to you and use it as a middle name.

Even though you might not like it very much, your child's name will have some meaning to it.

For the first name, choose a name you love so that you will love your child's name.

That is most important.

Then again, you can always give your kid two middle names, so you can use a family member name and another name that you really like :) hope that helps

I wouldn't choose number 1 because people may become upset you didn't use their name but if anything, I would choose #2 because then you can use an ancestor's name to show the significance of their name and how important they are.

i think 3 because it should be someone you. however, if there is someone you love in your family that you want to honor, put their name as the baby's middle name. my middle name is the same as my grandpas first name. some names i would suggest as a first one:

brandon

girl;

chloe

shelby

those are some i like personally, but if you choose one you like, make sure it's one you yourself likes.

In your place, i would pick a first name that i like and then give the baby the middle name of someone who was important to me. that way its a name you like and its linked to your family. Good luck in choosing.

I don't think you should name the baby after someone living. If you do at least make it a middle name. Otherwise the kid goes through life being junior or some other nickname. I would pick a name I like be it from the family tree (even if you never meet them) or from a book.

definetly 3 dont feel pressured to name a child after someone in your family, be creative get a unique name that not many people have, (but not too unique like apple lol)

Go with option number 3, or 1. Either way, research the meaning of your selected name and be sure that you feel good about it.

Well depending upon what the names are and if they worked together I vote option 2 and 3. Why not do both a family name that you like regardless if you know them, and pick a name that you really like.

Or for option one take a form of the name that you don't like so much to honor the person.

It's hard to say w/out knowing what the names are.

When in doubt, use them all. My first name, Krystal, is my mother's favorite name and the name of the street she grew up on. My middle name, Lee, is a family name so everyone in my family has it, and I intend on using it for my kids too. Go with what you like. It doesn't always have to be a tribute.

2. I named my daughter after my great-great grandma. I loved her name. It was also important because she dies when my great-grandpa was little & I promised him I'd do it.

It's also cool because you can find a lot of unique names that aren't words, foods, or made up.

Number two. The family feels honored and hopefully you like the name as well.

If you really want to be good to your partner's family.... choose one name from his side and one name from yours and combine them to be a pleasing first and middle name combo.

Well for me personally I'm going to be picking a biblical name. I think it's important you give your child a name with meaning. I think so many times society get ridiculous with the naming format - So choose carefully. Maybe a junior - or A grandfather name.
