The best restaurant in Newcastle?

Can anyone tell me what the nicest, poshest restaurant is in Newcastle? I plan to surprise my husband when we go to Newcastle - where he's from - but I don't want to spoil the surprise by asking him where I should take him!

personally id visit some of the chinese restaurants oppisite st james park...theres quite a few....you know the buffet type ones really good value for money.....just dont drink water and eat rice as you wont last long....theres a method of how to eat in them places,that almost has them chucking you out cause they dont expect you to eat so much!!!
