Question:

The great squirrel invasion of 2008 !!!!?

Early this morning we discovered that a small army of squirrels are breaking through the outside wall of our house and attempting to infiltrate our upper crawlspace ( above the proper attic).

They were seen "excavating" bits of wood and insulation. The hole is now quite visible from the outside of the house and my son has reported the sound of squirrels frequently can be heard from his room on the third floor.

The question is -- what do we do to rid ourselves of these pests.

Pertinent info -- we would like to be "humane" if possible. We don't really want to kill them, just have them live elsewhere.

We also do not with to block up the hole in case one or more squirrel is inside. A dead sqirrel in a hot attic crawlspace is not something we really want either.

Let The Suggestions Begin .... :)

  1. Pest Control to the RESCUE!!!

  2. Send someone up in the crawl space to shoo out any roaming squirrels. Then, place a piece of metal screening over the hole for a few days. This way you should be able to determine if there is a squirrel left behind. If you hear nothing for a few days, then cover the hole with new wood.
