This story literally made me cry. Why can't more people be selfless like Joe?

  1. That was very heroic.  However, it may have been smarter to get someone else that can swim to help them.  I wasn't there to judge.  Maybe no one was around to help.  He could have fell in reaching for the kids.  Does it matter?  He did what he thought was best in the situation.  People just don't do stuff like that if they think it is too risky.  There is a chance that he jumped in thinking the depth was shallow enough for a grown man to stand when a child could not.  He saved one child.......too bad he didn't do much with it.

There are selfless people in this world.  Every chance the opportunity arises, I do what I can.  Whether it be as simple as changing a flat tire on the freeway for a person stranded, helping the stranded,....... Even trying to help a man in cardiac arrest when people stood around a man on the floor and watched him die.  That man stays with me all the time. I always think that if I only got there 5 minutes earlier, I could have made a difference........

I am not looking for any type of praise.  Just letting you know that there are people in this world who are selfless.

  2. I went to school with Joe.. He was a really nice guy and always helped everyone.. Just maybe God put him here to help those boys...

  3. He is not selfless, he just sounds kind of stupid. If he had gotten someone who could swim, maybe the other two boy could have lived. I think it was heroic, but also one of the stupidest things I ever heard.
