The inside of my stainless

Question

The inside of my stainless steel dishwasher looks as if it has a white film on it. My glasses are also looking like they are etched. I haven't changed the dishwasher soap...any ideas what is causing this? The dishwasher is about 4 years old, and we've only noticed this in the past few weeks.
