The most breathtaking scenery in Basilicata is "i Sassi di Matera" ...but also the small towns are suggestive...

Why don't u go also in Puglia?? in Bari, On the promontory of Gargano in the Tremiti islands...they are nice places (and i think that they are more nice than Basilicata)...!!

Matera is quite breathtaking

It is Matera and the most famous Sassi, declared "Cultural Landscape" by UNESCO. I suggest you visit them in the evening, just one hour before the sun set (in a clear day, obviously...). IT IS REALLY BREATHTAKING.
