okay, what is the penalty for the "no yards rule"

i know, about the 5 yard infraction and letting the receiving team receive... but, how many penalty yards occur?

  1. 15 yards.

It's actually two stages.  If the infraction occurs while the kick is still in the air it's 15 yards but, once it hits the ground the penalty is only 5 yards.  Personally, if they let the ball hit the ground, the no-yards rule should be waived.  I'm all for giving the returner a shot but, some returnersdeliberately try to get the penalty by faking the cover guys out.

  3. it used to be a 5 yard penalty but about 2 or 3 years ago they changed it to a 15 yard penalty due to the fact that a lot of teams would rather take the no yards then allow a return for a TD so they changed it to 15 yards to keep teams from doing so
