Question:

The price of gas?

What do you all think of gas prices nowadays? I live in L.A. and the cheapest gas I can find right now is $3.19. It's funny how, for example, gas prices can go up .04 cents overnight but it takes like 2 weeks just to drop .02 cents. I honestly believe that it's all a big conspiracy. It's sad that gas is such an expense that some poor families can't really afford to put gas in their cars. I know people that spend $100/ week!

Absurd!!! What are your thoughts and where are you from and your gas prices???

  1. Here in New Mexico, which is one of the poorest states in the union, gas goes for about 2.90 on average.  Yet every other vehicle is a humongous SUV or pickup truck you know.  I guess people still can afford it because demand hasn't significantly gone down.  The prices are ridiculous.  As the rich get richer, the poor get poorer, and the middle-class continue to pour their money into their vehicles.

  2. Of course its a conspiracy. I'm on the East Coast and the cheapest I can find gas in my area is $3.25. I drive, for my work, over 200 miles a week and it takes quite a chunk of $.

Many people say to go "alternative" and I'd love to, but the cost of a hybrid car is too much for me and public transit/bike isn't an option.

I try to do everything in a loop, get it done in one drive. It's not going to be changing anytime soon!

Edit: Thumbs down....why because i used the word conspiracy? RIGHT!!!!!!!!!

Or maybe you DO own an oil company.

  3. Well I live in North Carolina amd the cheapest here is $2.78. and it is going down everyday to soo it is not that bad here but i am sure it will go up sone

  4. get on the alternate fuel band wagon

  5. gas here were im at is $2.86 but i think it will go down when bush leave the office.

  6. You guys are so ripped off!  Ours in Australia is around $1.40 at the moment and I thought that was bad.

  7. Dude, based on your logic, every single price that rises is the result of a conspiracy. Where are you people when the price of houses quadruples in four years? The people who complain the loudest about increasing prices are the ones who don't make any money on the price increase. If you buy a house, do you hope and expect to take less for it when you sell it? No. You want more. So why is it wrong for other prices to increase?

  8. I am thinking about getting a car that gets better gas mileage and a scooter for the spring and summer.

I want to move to Australia! $1.40? WOW

  9. Our gas prices are to high and it is absurd. Our cheapist is around $ 3:00. I wish I owned a Hybrid right now. Its funny how gas prices make you think about what type of car you drive -so sad.

  10. I think it is terrible!!!!! A d*mn shame really!!! I t is literally highyway robbery. I live in Ohio & today gas is $3.05 a gallon. My husband saw in the paper where it is predicted to go to $3.70, by spring!!?!! I don't understand why the president doesn't do something. Our country is headed for (if not already at) a recession. People can hardly afford to buy the necessities. Groceries are going sky high to cover transportation costs, along with many other things. That is to say everything but my paycheck!! This President continues to be a disappointment in so many ways! Yet he continues to act as though everything is -A-O-K!!!

    edit:

Why the thumbs down do you own an oil co.??

  11. Listen kid, you need to seriously settle down and stop getting so god dam fired up. All you're doing is throwing all our arguments back at us like you F****n know everything about economics. To you, economics is how much did mommy and daddy give you for the movies this weekend.

  12. You are a conspiracy theorist whether you acknowledge it or not. Break out of your safety zone and do some research on the cost of fuel beyond the borders of the U.S. do some research into what other countries have done to address the costs of fuel. As a foot note, the US consumer still has the luxury of the lowest cost fuel in the world.
