Question:

The shirt clash debacle?

In the recent Scotland v All Blacks game, there was a monumental c**k up in clashing strips, so much so that it was near on impossible to figure out what team was what. From a players perspective, it must have been a nightmare. My question is this!

Why did this happen?

The NZ team management were asked to change at half time, but hadn't brought a second strip, and quite frankly why should they, as they were told to wear the one they wore. I don't know why it happened, can anyone shed light on this?

  1. It seems crazy to me that the ABs should have to wear the alternate strip at Cradiff - playing on a neutral ground when we all know the French play in all white loads anyway!

OK so let's accept that this all comes down to a coin toss, so be it.

Remeber how fired up the ABs got when they had to do the Haka in their dressing room!? Maybe this will have the same effect.

I still reckon we should have gone with the all-white strip as used successfully on many occasions in the past - but anyhow...Go the Blacks (in grey!)

  2. As has been said, The IRB fecking up again....................

What do you mean it was near impossible to figure out what team was what?  The AB's were the ones that had the ball!!!

  3. The jerseys were submitted a year ago and since then Canterbury changed the Scotland design slightly with the grey.

That's what messed everything up.  Why they asked NZ to change uniforms and then didn't ask Scotland was beyond me.  Surely Scotland had easier access to their traditional jersey's.  Good old IRB messing up AGAIN!

  4. I think it was just a silly mistake.

Easy to read into the situation - mind games, trying to de-power the ABs by making them wear another colour, but I don't think Scotland are about that. Good honest rugby players, never any dirt or nonsense from them.

The French though? Got to wonder why they decided to darken their strip to almost black, They could definitely wear a lighter shade of blue. Hard to find a lighter shade of black!

I think the silver strip and black fern looks ok, the black panels on the back are confusing - all silver would look better.

  5. this is a classic case of the IRB (international rugby board) trying to dominate the game and making a hash of it.

All jerseys were sent to the IRB 12 months ago and they then decided what was to be worn in the event of a clash of colours(also the jersey sponsors have a say). In the past the A.B's wore white jerseys - this would be better but there are none made or allowed. As long as the jerseys don't clash (like in the scotland game) I don't believe it makes any difference. They are still the same players.

GO THE A.B's !!!!!!! (frog legs for breakfast on Sunday morning .lol)

  6. Oh my god i am so sick of this debacle. I blame the IRB as they should have checked out the fact that Scotland had some interesting grey panels on their shirts that blended in with the NZ grey jersey making it look as though the game was played by "30 magpies fighting over a walnut". At least Scotland didnt do it on purpose whereas the French are just trying to play mind games by darkening their jersey & making the ABs wear their alternative strip. This may backfire on the french as the IRB are still deciding & they may end up wearing white. Anyway, it doesnt matter the All Blacks "could wear blue, pink or nothing & they would still be hard to beat" Go the ABs!
