They were launched in the 70's or 80's just were are they headed and how long will it take them to reach or come near a star

  1. Don't hold your breath waiting.  


  2. They are still sending back info. Tey are just going past the area of the suns influence gravitaionally. It will take thousands of years for them to reach another star.

  3. Voyager 1 is not heading towards any particular star, but in about 40,000 years it will be within 1.6 light years of the star AC+79 3888 in the Ophiuchus constellation.

    Voyager 1 would take 74,000 years to reach Proxima Centuri if it was travelling in that direction.

  4. They had planetary missions only and were never aimed at any star.  They will probably travel for thousands of years until they are completed eroded away and never get anywhere near another star.
